Nollywood Actor Pere Egbi Opens Up About Cinemas in Nigeria and the Reality of Movie Success

In a candid revelation that has sparked debate across social media, Nollywood actor and producer Pere Egbi shared his personal experience with the Nigerian movie industry, particularly highlighting the challenges filmmakers face with cinemas in the country. Taking to social media, Pere opened up about the financial struggles he encountered after releasing his movie The Silent Intruder, which featured the talented actress Uche Montana.

According to Pere, despite investing over N200 million ($135,000) in the production of the movie, it only grossed a meager N53 million at the box office. After deductions for taxes and fees, Pere revealed that he only pocketed a check for a mere N8 million. His frustration was palpable as he discussed the impact of these losses on his finances, stating,
"I had to move back to the U.S. to work so I can pay back the loan I took."
