At 75, Engineer John Dumelo Sr. lived a full and accomplished life, serving as a pillar of wisdom and strength for his family. Reflecting on their final moments together, John Dumelo recounted how his father called him over for what turned out to be a memorable and bittersweet conversation.
“We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business—and of course, we gossiped,” Dumelo shared.During this heartfelt exchange, the senior Dumelo encouraged his son to serve diligently in government, offering advice that will undoubtedly resonate as John steps into his new role as a public servant. Tragically, mere minutes after their conversation, the elder Dumelo became unresponsive and passed away despite efforts to revive him at the hospital. In his tribute, John Dumelo expressed gratitude for his father’s unwavering support, calling him his “best friend” and “number one cheerleader.” He ended the message with a poignant farewell:
“Say hi to mum for us all… we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.”Our thoughts and prayers are with Honorable John Dumelo and his family during this difficult time. May Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr. rest in eternal peace.
