Bobrisky Laments on Social Media Following Arrest at Seme Border
Nigerian crossdresser and social media sensation, Bobrisky, born Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, has once again sparked controversy. The self-proclaimed "Mummy of Lagos" took to social media to share her recent ordeal, revealing that her troubles began after winning the "Best Dressed Female" award, along with a one-million-naira prize. On October 20, 2024, Bobrisky was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme border while attempting to leave the country.
Though Bobrisky has never officially identified as homosexual, her crossdressing persona has made her a target of scrutiny in Nigeria, where same-sex relationships are punishable by up to 14 years in prison. She was held overnight and subsequently transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon, Lagos, the following day. This incident has once again highlighted the challenges faced by non-conforming individuals in a country with strict laws against LGBTQ+ expressions.
