Native Media TV Announces Partnership with Edo State on New Telenovela

In a significant development for Nigerian television, Native Media TV has unveiled a partnership with the Edo State Government for an upcoming 78-episode telenovela. This groundbreaking series will delve into pressing social issues like irregular migration, human trafficking, rehabilitation, and redemption, making it a vital narrative for contemporary audiences.

Supported by the Edo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Godwin Obaseki, the project is being overseen by the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, as well as the Edo Film Project. The collaboration was formally announced during a meeting on May 17, 2024, at the office of the First Lady of Edo State.

Dr. Rogers Ofime, the Chief Executive of Native Media TV, emphasized the importance of setting the series in Edo State, a region historically affected by irregular migration. He praised the efforts of the Edo State Government in addressing these issues and highlighted the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Betsy Obaseki’s, advocacy for female empowerment. Her initiatives aim to combat human trafficking and support the reintegration of returnees into society.
Native Media TV is renowned for producing original Nigerian content with international appeal, and this new telenovela will be no exception. It will also showcase the creative advancements made in Edo State, driven by initiatives from Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration. The Honorable Commissioner Dr. Uyi Oduwa Malaka has played a crucial role in making Edo State a welcoming environment for filmmakers.
Commissioned by Africa Magic, this telenovela will be broadcast across all Multichoice and Africa Magic platforms, including Showmax and Peacock, reaching audiences in 48 countries across Africa. This collaboration marks a significant step in using entertainment as a tool for social change.
