Alexx Ekubo’s Emotional Plea Highlights Unfulfilled Promises Amid Nigeria’s Economic Crisis

In a poignant and heartfelt appeal, Nollywood actor and activist Alexx Ekubo took to his social media platform to address the dire economic challenges plaguing Nigeria. Reflecting on a photo he took in Kaduna in February 2021 while filming "Almajiri", Ekubo expressed deep concern over the worsening situation in 2024. He lamented how things, which seemed bad in 2021, have now deteriorated to an alarming level.

Ekubo’s post resonated with many Nigerians, highlighting the growing desperation as the country faces its worst economic downturn in over three decades. Inflation has skyrocketed, leading to widespread hunger and hardship. Ekubo urged the nation's leaders to take immediate action, calling for a drastic reduction in electricity tariffs, fuel prices, and a favorable exchange rate for the Naira. His plea was simple yet powerful:
"All we are asking for is a better standard of living."
Adding to the urgency of Ekubo’s plea is the fact that the general public has yet to receive the "Livelihood" funding package of ₦570 billion that President Tinubu promised in his Sunday, August 4th, 2024 address to the nation. Despite the President’s order for immediate price reductions on food, electricity, and fuel, these measures have yet to take effect. Ekubo’s cry for help underscores the frustration of many Nigerians who feel left behind and unheard.

In his emotional appeal, Ekubo urged President Tinubu to seize this moment to make a lasting impact, pleading,
"This is the one time you can write your name in the sands of time."
His message echoed the collective cry of a nation in need of urgent and decisive leadership.
